What’s Included in Membership?

  • Membership dinner meetings and social events for two representatives
    *business will be invoiced for additional representatives unless otherwise stated
  • Listing in the online trades directory on the ODCA website
  • Occasional ODCA promotional material
  • Social media post sharing and shout outs
If a new members joins the ODCA at any point during the year, their membership dues will be prorated accordingly.
Once your membership application is approved, you will be issued an invoice which can be paid via cheque or credit card.

Safety Training

If you are a active member of the Orillia & District Construction Association you are eligible to receive a 10% discount off safety courses with Construction Workplace Safety Training (CWST) and Sunbelt Safety Rentals. Members will also receive a 10% discount at Sunbelt Rentals for personal safety equipment (ie. Harness’ etc.)

Networking with ODCA

ODCA will be hosting general meetings that will bring together our members to discuss their achievements and perhaps create opportunities to assist each other. At our general meetings we will have a Question and Answer period to discuss our member’s situations at work that is of concern to the well being of our membership. Also, it may be piloted to have a business host a reception for members to attend – similar to a business “after-five” social.

Committees

A defined list of committees will be offered to our executive and members to participate, i.e. Golf Committee, Special Projects Committee, Marketing Committee, Municipal Committee, etc. Each committee will be given the mandate to facilitate same within the timelines of the project.

Marketing

To be recognized throughout our community by advertising through signage, sponsorship, and media venues. Members are encouraged to become our Ambassadors by telling other construction associates to join our association and become a voice for construction.

ODCA Membership Application

Pursuant to the requirements of The Federal and Provincial Privacy Act, it is required that you agree we may obtain and/or verify the particulars of your company business practices specific to those requested in the application and that the references provided with whom you have business and financial dealings may be permitted to disclose such information to the Orillia & District Construction Association.
In submitting this application, you also affirm that the company information provided is accurate and consent to its use for such purposes of the promotion of membership, internet information and networking at all levels of the Orillia & District Construction Association.

ODCA BYLAW: 6.00 MEMBERSHIP

Membership

Subject to the approval of the Board, membership in the association shall be open to such corporations, companies, partnership and individuals as may come with the scope of one or more of the classes of membership set out in section 6.02, who are of good repute and who, in the opinion of the section in which they would be eligible, possess honestly,integrity, financials responsibility and experience in the work covered by the Section in which they seek membership.

6.02 Classes

There shall be three (3) classes of membership of the Corporation, being;

6.02.01 General Contractors

Shall include all contractors handling one or more of the basic trades such as Masonry,Carpentry, Concrete Work, being those who normally take prime contracts involving the letting of sub-contracts and coordinatingtrade contractors;

6.02.02 Trade Contractors

Shall include all contractors known as trade contractors or sub-contractors. With the approval of the Board of Directors and the Trade Contractors Section, separate trades composing the Section may be dividedand may for their own individual sub-section for the purpose of more effective dealing with the problems peculiar to their own particular trade. Notwithstanding the above, any representative made by individual groups shall be made only through the Trade Contractors Section.

6.02.03 Manufactures, Supply and Services

Shall include all those firms or individuals having contact with building industry not coming within the scope of General Contractors Section and Trade Contractors Section, may be divided into three classes; 6.02.3.1 Manufacturers 6.02.3.2 Material and Supply Companies or Individuals 6.02.3.3 Services, including Bonding companies, Insurance Companies, Trade Journal Publishing Companies, Credit Information Companies, etc. and all other firms or individuals having direct contact with the building industry.Members may designate in which section they desire to be represented and for a fee, which may be set by theBoard, may be listed in more than one section in the Trade Directory.

6.03 Applications

Applications for membership shall be made in the following manner: 6.03.01 In writing upon the form adopted and provided by the Corporation to be signed by the applicant and accompanies by the amount of the membership fee in force at the time of the application . 6.03.02 A two-thirds majority of the Board present at a meeting shall be necessary for the acceptance of the application.
